Disclaimer & Informed Consent for Low-Dose Naltrexone (LDN) Treatment

Medical Disclaimer

The information provided on this website and in this consent form is for informational purposes only and does not constitute medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Low-dose naltrexone (LDN) is considered an off-label treatment for various conditions, including weight management and inflammatory disorders. While many patients report benefits, results may vary, and the treatment may not be suitable for everyone.

By choosing to proceed with LDN therapy through ZYP Medical, LLC, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the following terms:

Informed Consent & Acknowledgment of Risks and Benefits

Potential Benefits of LDN

LDN may provide the following benefits, though individual results may vary:

  • Appetite suppression and weight management support

  • Improved insulin sensitivity and metabolism

  • Reduction of chronic inflammation

  • Enhanced pain relief for autoimmune and neurological conditions

  • Mood stabilization and improved sleep quality

  • Support for gut health and hormone balance

Potential Risks & Side Effects

Like any medication, LDN may cause side effects. While generally well-tolerated, possible side effects include but are not limited to:

  • Sleep disturbances (insomnia, vivid dreams)

  • Headaches

  • Nausea or gastrointestinal discomfort

  • Fatigue or dizziness

  • Mild anxiety or restlessness

These side effects typically resolve within 1–2 weeks, but in some cases, adjustments in dosage or discontinuation may be necessary. If any severe reactions occur, such as allergic symptoms or unexpected complications, medical attention should be sought immediately.

Important Warning: Alcohol and Opioid Use with LDN

Opioid Use Warning

LDN blocks opioid receptors, meaning that taking opioid medications while on LDN can result in reduced pain relief and withdrawal symptoms in individuals who regularly use opioids.

🔴 If you are currently taking opioid medications (such as hydrocodone, oxycodone, morphine, codeine, or fentanyl), you should NOT take LDN.

🔴 If opioid medications are required for a medical procedure or pain management, you must STOP taking LDN and inform your healthcare provider before starting opioid treatment.

Failure to follow this guideline may result in:

  • Severe opioid withdrawal symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, muscle pain, sweating, anxiety, and rapid heartbeat.

  • Reduced effectiveness of opioid pain medications, leading to inadequate pain control.

  • Serious medical complications if opioids and LDN are used together.

Alcohol Use Warning

Although LDN is being studied for alcohol use disorder, consuming alcohol while taking LDN may increase sensitivity to alcohol and result in:

  • Increased risk of nausea, dizziness, or vomiting

  • Intensified sedative effects, leading to excessive drowsiness or impaired coordination

  • Possible liver strain in those with existing liver conditions

🔴 Patients should avoid or limit alcohol consumption while on LDN.

If you need to start opioid medications while taking LDN, you must stop LDN immediately and notify your healthcare provider for proper guidance.
